Synopsis for "The Storm and the Sacrifice!"
As Thunderstrike fights Thor, Eric battles Bloodaxe's avatar in his mind, alongside his own avatar, Sparky, and the Executioner, who was summoned by Odin. The Executioner attacks the Bloodaxe avatar only to find his own face under the mask. Eric snatches his mace from the avatar, which is wielding both the axe and Thunderstrike. The avatar engulfs Eric who, fighting back, splits his psyche in two, pitting his noble self against the influence of the Bloodaxe. Thor and the Avengers witness the physical manifestation of Eric's internal war as it reaches its conclusion. Thunderstrike sacrifices himself to eliminate the axe, and Jackie senses Eric's death as she regains her freedom from the axe's control. Thunderstrike finds himself in Valhalla, where Thor wishes him to be, but Eric feels he's just an ordinary guy who doesn't belong there. Odin takes Eric to his final resting place. Sometime later, Marcy, Bobby, and Kevin visit Eric's grave. Later, Thor visits, adding a postscript to Eric's gravestone. Finally, Jackie visits and thanks Eric for saving her life.
