Utand and his frost giants chase Bellos, murderer of Utand's daughter, across Jotunheim. Bellos leaps into the Crack of Doom and tosses in a sack of blood taken from Utand's daughter, which he hopes will "consecrate the final cycle of the Endless Circle," a prophesied time when "fire joins with ice to herald the end of the universe." Suddenly, the Crack convulses and a giant hand emerges, killing all the giants. Meanwhile, in his bedchamber, Odin puts the imprisoned Vizier on his shelf and tells him "the Endless Circle decrees that Asgard must die."
