Dormammu is a humanoid being of great mystical power (so great that sorcerers of other realms invoke his name for extradimensional energy to empower their spells) who is the absolute ruler of his own extradimensional world, accessible from Earth. While accounts of his activities in his own dimension as well as his various attempts to turn Earth's universe into a "dark dimension" are known, his origin is not.
